Hari Om

I welcome you to my website. I've been inspired by Paramahamsa Satyananda Saraswati and my Guru Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati. I've been blessed by their guidance and wish to share that inspiration with you. I invite you to take this opportunity to explore your inner world through Yoga postures, breath awareness and meditation.

I was interested in meditation from an early age, which I explored from many traditions, to find that yoga offered me the most complete system for self-discovery.

I qualified as a Sivananda Integral Yoga Teacher at Ananda Kutir Ashram, Cape Town in 2005 and after further 4 years post-graduate studies with Swami Parvathiananda, as a Level 2 Integral Yoga Teacher. In 2008 I attended a Yoga Nidra Teacher’s Training Course with Swami Pragyamurti of the London Satyananda Centre and further courses at the Bihar School of Yoga, Munger India, on Prana Vidya & on Ajapa Dharana. My inspiration comes from the Satyananda Tradition, and this reflects strongly in my teaching.

I have spent the last 7 years teaching yoga therapy on an individual basis from my studio, as well as groups at Crescent Clinic, Cape Town, and for the last three years at Valkenberg Hospital. This has given me a broad hands-on experience and shown me the positive influence of yoga on mind, body and spirit.

Yoga is...

Universal
The practice of yoga is universal and does not contradict anyone's religion. Yoga is an aid to the practice of the basic spiritual truths of all religions.

A Way of Life
It is a lifestyle that encourages transformation and the cultivation of spirituality. A yogic lifestyle is an integration of all aspects of the personality - mind, body, emotions and spirit.

A System of Integral Education
Yoga is an education that begins with the body and mind, and gradually unfolds the inner spirit.

.

An Exact Science
Yoga is an exact science, a perfect, practical system of inner discipline and awareness of one's attitudes and actions.

Yoga means uniting yourself with whatever is positive and uplifting in life.
- Swami Niranjanananda

Yoga means Unity or Oneness. It is a path that awakens self-discovery. A state of oneness, unity, acceptance, and love initially with ourselves, and then it extends to include all those around us.
